    F22a3 EDM engine Thread

~~ THE F22A3 sohc 150hp EDM stock engine DisCussion thread ~~

ok, so as some of us know, Many EDM(european domestic market) accords have 150 HP sohc F22A3 engines, Stock.

now i created this Thread to Devote Striclty to this Engine, i personally have a F22a6 (140hp stock), and i have some questions about these 150hp EDM engines

    - What is Different about these EDM engines from lets say the USDM f22a6?

    - where does the extra 10 HP come from? (IM?, Header? ECU ? Internal?)

    - could the Intake Manifold, header and ecu be swaped from a F22a3 onto a USDM f22 and make it 150 hp?

i personally am very interested, i'd love to be able to upgrade my F22 to 150hp. there is no shortage of guys doing F22a6 IM/Head/ECU swaps, so why not get the extra 10hp from the F22a3 instead? .

and i'm thinking there is about 3 or 4 euro guys on here, maybe one of them would be interested in shipping A3' parts to some of us if these swaps would work

from what ive heard on other boards the extra hp is created by a higher compression ratio allowed by the higher octane gas (not by much, but higher) that is used in the rest of the world.

I was thinking that, and also emissions standards are probably different.

i used to have a list on all the specs on all the F22ax engines on my computer.
          but no more(format c: ).
but things i remember was that the Internals was the same except pherhaps the camshaft.
the list did not show the duration or lift on any of the camshafts on the F22ax so i dont know.
i dont know about the athers f22ax but the f22a3 comes with a stock 4-2-1 header.
im swidish and i have a EDM Accord EX(R) with the F22A3(150hp) engine.

It figures....High compression, equals high NOx emissions, which in
turns equals "Rejected" emissions sticker on your windshield.

So that's why the 10:6 JDM H22 fails when the 10:1 USDM one passes, eh? And why there's a 10hp difference there? Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions here...

But yeah, I'm guessing the power difference is because of the compression and emissions controls. Many cars are underpowered in their US incarnations because of our emissions controls (yet I don't think any other country has the same smog problems... odd, eh?)

Why bother searching for F22A3 parts when you could just go aftermarket...a regrind, H22 crank and 11.0:1 piston/rod combo will do the job wayyy better, unless you just want the A3 parts. Good luck.
