    msd internal to external swap...?

i think i have it down but i just wanted to post for some more input...
*my car 92 accord with jdm h22a*
i recently had the dizzy on my car shit the bed (the dizzy was the jdm internal coil type)

when buying a new dizzy for my car i made the mistake of buyying the external type dizzy for the USDM h22. now i figured i might as well run an msd style external coil while i was at it since i have to run one now anyhow. i just need to know what wires to run to the coil from inside of the dizzy... i think i could have figured it out if i was still running the internal coil because i would just take the wiers that came off the internal coil and run them to the external coil, but with this new dizzy i got its the external kind and it doesnt have a coil in it.. so the wiring is a little different.... any help is welcomed!! thanks...

well thanks for the link ( which i have already view several times) and the smart ass typical "search" remark... I am very familiar with how these forums work and how to search... i have searched this many times and looked at alot of things, i was just looking for some personal advice from someone that has already done this... and furthur more... my situation is different from the "typical msd coil install" like the one in the link you sent me because i used to have an internal coil but now i have a dizzy that is setup for an external coil.. the wiring i dont think is the same... because there never was an internal coil in my dizzy to take the wires from and run to the new external coil... but ill look it over more... thanks for your help...

i thought u PM'd me about this already. If there was a wire running to the internal coil that was a positive then that same wire is what needs to be the positive on the external coil. Same goes for the negative. Just trace where the wires for the internally coiled dizzy were going and do the same for the one with the external dizzy. Splice, connect, run the coil wire to the dizzy and coil and your done.

I was not trying to be an ass but it actually shows how to wire it up for both setups. Anyhow i hope you got it to work good luck.

I did exactly what midnite racer x said, except I used my stock coil and it worked fine. Whats so special about the msd coil?

Its supposed to give a stronger spark or something like that. I did use it over the stock setup and no box and i noticed a difference. The revs and the shifts were cleaner.
