Getting a 1990 accord ex handed to me...need real opinions

This site was mentioned on HT in the accord forums, so i figured I get better results in here. I am very limited when it comes to accords, so I need your help.

To make a long story short, a 1990 5spd accord ex can be mine for free if I asked for it.

This car needs a new engine since this one is dead. Im leaning towards a USDM H22 motor. Im looking into getting an H22 from a 92 prelude, or whatever year I can come up with for a cheap price.

What are all the components that I will need to get this swap?

    engine/tranny
    wires/ecu
    what mounts?
    what axles?
    anything custom?

Give me info on about this swap!

    Or...

I can get a similar accord engine for this car and save a few bucks.

    Thanks

Hey welcome. And yeah if do a search it would be greatly appreciated.

For alot of the members here they more or less go for the JDM h22a since it has higher hp and lower compression.

USDM is nice but it only puts down 190 hp vs the JDM which does 200 hp.

You'll need the complete harness including the

    Engine Wring Harness
    ECU
Prelude axles since the Accord axles would be too short

As for everything else its gonna be a straight drop because the Prelude and Accord are basically on the same platform since the Prelude is very much an Accord except its a sports car.

    :edit:

go here www.hmotorsonline.com theyre reasonably priced for h22 that your looking for. highly recommended

      Thanks for the info.

The reason why Im looking for a usdm motor is because of smog. Im in cali. Im sure you can get by-by changing a few critical parts on the jdm motor to pass cali smog.

      What about the shift cable?

Yeah I thought so. Cali does have strict emissions..but with USDM motors theyre prone to higher mileage. JDM versions usually come with lower miles after all Japan is a tad smaller than the US

As for the shifter cables like I mentioned before the Prelude is basically an Accord in sports cars body.

Shifter cables you can still keep.

Dunno, there is one for $3200 on there... I guess the $900-1100 tags on them here makes me think the other prices are high.

To make these smogable, i would have to change the intake manifold, header, ecu, and something to all USDM parts, correct? Anything else?

                    I don't know CA's laws about emissions.

In Ohio, I could run basically anything I wanted, we never get sniffed.

The CB7's are too short from what I heard... no clue though.

Case in point....the Red top H22a Type S motor is an OBDII which would make it more expensive...and anyone here knows that its a rigeous pain in the ass to convert the cb7 to an OBDII speced vehicle.

You can still get the USDM motor but its 10 hps down from the JDM version and higher compression.
