I was thinking more along the lines of mixing and matching components to build an engine to my liking. Like a Frankenstein engine so to speak.

And when I say torque I don't mean 160 ft. lbs. at 6500 rpms, I mean 160 at like 4k or less if that seems possible.

You got the Frank part right, since your asking how to do this you cant do it, not trying to be mean but its the truth.

What? I've heard of people swapping different heads and such onto different blocks, why are you saying this isn't possible?

It is possible if done by someone else.

?? If one person can do it it is possible. Don't care if I have the skill right now or not, I've got 2 years to learn.

                    LOL @ Jan...

You can't learn how to do a frankenstein engine in a few posts. Read and learn on your own.

Go buy an H22 and use those 2 years to learn how you're going to have to re-wire and remove stuff to get that engine to work. Then with some of that time, you might want to try and redeem yourself in hopes of getting some help out of these guys on here when the time comes that you actually will be attempting this.

This is an every day driver, so mainly what I'm looking for is more torque, a little more horsepower wouldn't hurt, but torque is my main concern. I would like to just start assembling what I need and putting it together, and I figure in 2 years I should have the engine completely assembled and ready to drop in to my car. I'd be happy with putting in a 2.4L honda engine but I want it to be brand new(gonna try and keep this car a long time). If you guys know a place I could get a crate honda engine I'd be very interested, also if anyone has any info on a possible V6 swap into my '91 accord, that'd be great too.
Funny actually...this use to be my additude back when I first started. Everyone doubted me mainly because my dreams were rather...well too big. I have since come to my post-naive senses and 2 Franks later can now drive something that I am happy with. I wanted to build something that no one else has touched and other stuff you mentioned above but what it comes down to is A LOT of $$ (deep money pit style). If you got time and $$ than anything is possible. Just realize that ahead of time because I did and I do not in any way feel that I have sufficed with what I have yet I did scale down my original idea.
As I read more, you are kinda all over the place with your ideas. You went from building a "custom" motor, to getting a crate motor, to getting a V6. If I were you I would do A LOT of research on those because a lot of that has already been covered on this site. Nowadays people can build awesome engines at a fraction of the prices you get crate motors for and who wants a V6 when you can build a 4cyl cheaper and get better gas milage? Do your homework on this site and you will come to an epiphany of what you truly want to build and have a better idea of how to build it.

*sigh* rebuild an f and run about 10lbs of boost. Voila, lots of torque.

im still amazed on how he wants to build this motor by himself with out any help wat so ever...

im not saying its impossible.... but when you build a motor and want it done right... your gonna need all the help you can physically/professionally. i know your not gonna have the patients to wait forever to build a motor yourself.. it takes a lot of time..

I didn't mean build the motor myself, of course I'll need help, I meant like once its a motor, it will be my hands working on it; ex. not taking it to penzoil or some other butt lube place. And my ideas aren't really all over the place, I want to have backup plans, I'm not very dumb, I'm trying to think this out. The crate motor would just be the easiest way to go for modest gains, and the v6 idea came from working on this '91 acura legend with a v6. But my #1 plan is to do the custom swap. Also to gloryaccordy, did I say anything about learning to do this on here? I asked for recommendations, and I also said I have roughly 2 years(minimum) to learn to do this, not, as you say, a couple posts. This engine will SIT for a LONG time. H22 is too hard to find without it having been romped on to hell. And if the geniuses at this site don't want to help I have numerous other resources, so don't envision yourself as a honda god, ok? Thank you H23accord and rickyduckworth for your advise/encouregment, appearently most of these other people still think the world is flat.

Well first, I think you should calm down with remarks towards certain members. It isnt their fault you came here and asked for a recommendation, when there are already FAQs covering engine possibilities for the cb7. Thats like having a dollar, and deciding whether you want to hit up Taco Bell or Wendy's.... its all personal preference.... decide for yourself.

As for your "plans", I personally feel they are pretty dumb. Why cant you just rebuild and turbo the F series that is already in the car? If done right, it would be just as reliable as a new motor, and for a fair amount less then what you are already looking to spend I would imagine. Why are you so intent on a "brand new" or "custom" motor?

How is an H series so hard to find in good condition? I got mine with no mechanical problems at all. I think youre just writing it off and not really giving it a second thought. Plus, why the need to figure this all out now? Just concentrate on saving you money now, and see what advances are made over the next 2-3 years with the K series motors, or some other new motor that might come out. Then decide when the time comes.

In my mind, custom is a waste. Scoring brownie points for having something "different" isnt worth the cash. Modding is cool, and swaps are too if your motor blows, but going out of your way to spend more money then needed all in the name of "different" is just flat out stupid.
