shit zigzack, anything is possiable, but sometimes just not practical. If all you want it torque, and you are going for custom, why not try and swap in a v8? Go out and find a caddy northstar engine and drop that into your accord, gonnahave to save up for 2-3 years to prob get one, but you said you work at a shop, so maybe they will be able to find one fpor ya...give it a try bud...an l98 paired with a 700r4 will also make good tq numbers...

As far as the H, if i was you, wait until the bitch blows to get a new motor, and when it does, go with the k series...i have a feeling that in the not so distant future the k is going to be the new H...so wait till they start popping up and become available...2-3 years is a lotta time.

whatever you choose i give you props for wanting to be different, everything isnt about cash, do what makes you feel good and make it something that will make YOU happy. Others opinions, especially negative shouldnt have anything to do with what is going to make you happy.

This is an every day driver, so mainly what I'm looking for is more torque, a little more horsepower wouldn't hurt, but torque is my main concern. I would like to just start assembling what I need and putting it together, and I figure in 2 years I should have the engine completely assembled and ready to drop in to my car. I'd be happy with putting in a 2.4L honda engine but I want it to be brand new(gonna try and keep this car a long time). If you guys know a place I could get a crate honda engine I'd be very interested, also if anyone has any info on a possible V6 swap into my '91 accord, that'd be great too.
just turbo it...you can get like 200hp and about 240tq if you turbo it...cramming air in the cylinders makes more torque

The custom engine idea isn't imposible, just rather...un nessisary IMO. My preference would be an H22. Of course, you could custom build it...start with a 2.2L block, high compression pistons, forged rods...nice rod bearings. A nice 272 Cam would be nice, and of course, 16 valves (provided it's a inline 4 motor).

Anyways, I hope you have good luck with your custom idea, let us know how it goes.

turbo is prolly the easiest route to get more tourque....but you have to maintain it and everything so if your lookin for a little maintence thing just swap in the h and call it a day.

The only thing i hate about forums, is that people who have never done something always suggest stuff "because they heard its difficult" and have never done it. If you take your time and search it anything is possible, ever a frank swap. i remember when cpmike did his first, i think he had papers all over the place and so did i, i had acouple of peoples cell phone numbers just incase.

it does NOT take 2 years to learn how to rewire an h22, more like 5 minutes.

and i also agree with ricky,

Secondly it doesn't take alot of torque to get our cars moving.

Thirdly you can find h22a's all over the place that havent been romped on. There is is a bunch of importers who bring engines from japan with low miles.

i think our poster needs to do alot of research, acknowledge that v6 swaps into cb7s will never be done, and just figure out what he wants to do.

                          Ok.

                          I'm done with this -

                          ZIGZACK:

                          1. if you work in a shop and know how to take car of a car, your Honda is NOT going to die at 200K - these bishes will outlive galapagos tortoises if you treat them right

                          2. the good news on that note is that it gives you more time to get yourself together and do this right

                          3. anything is possible, but you need to start by searching around on your own - if you're in a shop near a machine shop - well start TALKING to these guys - obviously they should have the know how to help you out on your quest

                          4. start researching performance companies - and as for starting with a block - well an aluminum block is an aluminum block - f, h or whatever - when you strip out the internals THEY ARE ALL THE SAME (save displacement) - or whatever block you choose, my point is just that -

                          to EVERYONE:

"You're silly, that's not worth it, just spray/ just swap an H/ just wah wah wah" is NOT constructive

Thanks to phat, ricky, and similar who have offered up advice, but three pages full with less than 10 reasonable, relevant posts is not worth it

this thread is now closed due to an OVERWHELMING LACK OF CONSTRUCTIVE INFORMATION - before shit gets too out of hand
