    It's Done!!!

Finished my f22b dohc swap into my wagon today!!! I'm so glad this is done and it wasn't nearly as bad as some said it would be. The wagon already had an h23 in it so it was pretty much plug and play with some additions/deletions here and there. Best of all with a shot of starter fluid to the intake it started on the first crank!!! Not only that, but this swap was done out in the open in balmy 18* St. Louis weather....gotta love it....anyways, I'll post up pix when I get the car cleaned up as it's been sitting for a few months now and is dirty as hell....anyone have any ?'s about the swap lemme know though....learned alot about a somewhat obscure motor through all this...that and froze my fat ass off.....
i roll my wagon slo, f22b style...

It's all about personal experience, personality, and your comfort level with mechanical things. I'm looking forward to removing my F22 from my DX wreck, but I expect it to be quite a project. Some people see "simple" things like that as being nothing noteworthy... others see it as a major deal.

Congrats on completing the swap! How come you replaced an H23 with an F22B DOHC? They're so similar in function and power output, I don't see why.

just remember seeing it written here and there...as for myself this is my second swapped honda-I've also got a b16 EJ1-and while I don't think it's a walk in the park I don't think it's impossible either.....Best thing I can say is do the research and take your time....if you're in a hurry then turn it over to the pros....

overall it's a good swap to do and I can't wait to get pix up but I need to do some tidyin' up under the hood first....thanks for the good words though guys....

I'm going to wash the car today, and pix will soon follow.....
As for start to finish time....I'd have to say 2 full days tops. I don't exactly know b/c my motor blew xmas eve, I ordered the f22b around new yrs, and really didn't spend much time at all wrenchwise since the car already had an h23 in it everything was pretty much plug and play. I'm guessing though there's not much more difference between the h23 and f22a as far as changes needing to be made. It's definately a feasible weekend project but know first what you're doing and have a plan of action. After dropping the h23 THROUGH THE BOTTOM, I invested in an engine hoist to drop the new one in and it made shit sooooooo much easier.....I'll never ever drop a motor through the bottom of a car....it's a royal pita ..........have any ?'s I'll answer as soon as I can.....

They put it in from the bottom when they build the car, but the part they don't tell you is that they drop the chassis down onto the front subframes/engine/suspension assembly and then bolt that up. There is no fighting or trying to fit it through subframes. I don't know that it can't be done, as I have never had the privledge of having a lift available, but I can't imagine it would be too easy. Maybe...
