    Auto Swap to Manual.

I have an Automatic and i'm hoping to swap that out soon because i do notlike automatic. I was looking forwards a H22 swap with a H22 transmission and ECU. I have about $3000 to spend on the whole swap. I was think if thats enough to do it. And i was also wondering how time consuming/hard is it to the swap myself.
Well i hope you guys can help me out. I appreciate your input.

    EDIT:
Oh and is there any paper work or registration that go into a swap. With the state i mean. I live in TX and i was wondering if all these swaps are legal. I wouldn't want to spend $1950 on a H22 and then finding out its not legal to have in my Accord.

    1. as for the first part of your question, you need to search - yes you have enough money to do it, and no its not that hard -- but PLEASE search/ browse/ read around -- there are MORE than enough threads about this - including the sticky thread at the top of the swaps forum.

    2. as for the legality of your swap, as far as I know - CA is the only place that's really strict about that stuff, and the long answer, in short, is that - prove you own your engine fair and square, and federally the regs on swaps are that if your replacement has a US equivalent, it's legal (because who is the US to impede on the rights of free trade, you can buy where you want!!) technically most of the additional, state-imposed regs on such mods are unconstitutional - ... but im not going to get into that ... -- Because we all know its never that easy -- so the short answer, in short, is cover your ass with all the receipts you can and ask locally about the laws - make a call to the department of motor vehicles and give them a hypothetical, "Hey my car needs a new engine, and i just wanted to know if i need any documentation that shows it was changed" if your really concerned, you might also ask where you can find a written copy of this particular code and keep that in your glovebox, too -- at least, thats just me.

I'd also suggest searching deeper - on this site and the rest of the wonderful wide web

    good luck.

      Hey dude,

I have done a ton of reasearch on swap etc. Go finds posts and threads made my me in the "Advanced Search" area. You should have enough money, but you also need a ton of time. THere are some quirks and stuff, but you'll get it. Also, I would try and get someone to help you that has already done it.

only problem i have had with my swap is when i went to like the franchise type car places like firestone, they don't wanna touch the motor if its not the one that was orginally in there. every where is fine. cops can car less to look under your hood.
