    h23 question

ok here's the deal. A guy is having me fix his prelude with a h23. They thought that the rods were knocking so they wanted to put a h22a4 into it. (i thought they initially said h22a1 untill they brought the h22 over) I took apart the h23 to find out the head was cracked (which sux for me cause the motor was going to be my payment) the block is still good as far as i can tell. I figure just put on a new water pump and call it good. I have a friend with a f22a1 that is needing new rings and the h23 has new rings in it. obviously the h23 head fits on the f22 which means the f22 head will fit on the h23...but is it going to work? if not i'm just going to rebuild the f22 and call it good, but i have limited time cause the guy that wants me to fix the prelude has a few more honda jobs for me in the near future...soo anywho that's kinda off topic, but that's were i stand now.

    any thoughts?

If the block is fine then machine the head or hell machine both while its apart. Building the h23 will be more rewarding and why would you want to convert a previous DOHC motor to an SOHC....Pointless.

no it's not pointless. I'd rather use the h23 head, but the 2 heads that i have are cracked from top to bottom. The h23 block looks like it was just rebuild not to long back. The head from the f22 has been rebuilt by me. I know it's kinda backwards, but this is for a person who just wants to drive. I have no purpose for the h23 block because i'm doing a h23/f22 hybrid soon.
