blue top h22 on the way

I ordered my 97-01 blue top SiR h22 from hmotorsonline.com may 10th of this year and it is finally in cali. It is shipping out this week to alternative motorsports in okc for a swap in my car. i could have got a normal h22 but i hope the wait is worth the extra 20 horsepower and a little more torque. i am using a clutchmasters stage 1 clutch and flywheel with the swap. Has anyone ever seen one of these motors though or had a chance to drive an accord or prelude with one of these swapped in? My brothers 92-95 h22 is arriving here this week for his swap. he didn't order lsd so will my car walk on his? i have a coupe he has a 4-door. thanks

The Blue valve cover engine is an F20B DOHC. A 2.0 liter engine, It's not an H22, there's actually allot of internal differences between the two.

The F20B out of the Accord SiR (auto) has 180hp and the F20B out of the Accord SiR-T (5-Speed) has 200hp. They both have considerably less torque then a standard JDM H22A. They're only advantages are a high compression ratio and high reving capability but that's to offest the lack of torque.

You're brothers car will probably walk away from you unless he can't drive or his car is rediculously heavier for some reason.

Sorry busted but there was in fact a blue top h22a, it came in the 97-01 prelude SiR spec S. it is 220 hp and 163 ft lbs of tq. I called hmotorsonline and ordered and confirmed it to be a 2.2 liter H22a. The F20b is a blue top motor but it came standard in Accord SiR's. There was also an H23 blue top VTEC in 99-00 Accord SiR wagons b/c i had ordered that motor but changed my mind when it came down to it. The Prelude SiR H22a is the same as a Type S (not Type SH) but the differences it the blue valve cover on the SiR and the red valve cover on the Type S, the SiR came with LSD and the Type S came with ATTS. Look up honda's japanese website and you will see a prelude SiR spec S and a Type S, and an Accord SiR. The F20b was built for racing in Japan limited to 2.0 liter motors correct?

Listen, you're confused. Please read our engine list faq here in our swap section and most your question will be answered.

The "SiR" is a spec much like Type-R for the Accord. You see there is an SiR spec H22A which is used in the Type-S Prelude. The SiR spec H22A is the red top engine with 220hp and is used in the Type-S prelude, Type-R Accord, and Euro-R Accord.

The SH Prelude with ATTS is a completely different story and is offered with a regular H22A (black top 200hp) there is no SiR spec engine in the SH.

The Blue Top engine is the F20B designed by Honda for BTCC racing in Japan. When the circuit stop racing the engines production stopped and that's why the Accord SiR only survived for three years.

I know of the H23A Vtec but it's wierd some where black top and some blue top, I think there is where the problem originates. Since the blue valve cover is so valuable most are pulled and slapped on other engines are replaced with the black valve cover. In either case the H23A Vtec is an auto engine only and also has 200 hp, it jsut has more torque because of it's use in a Wagon.

So to reidarate the SiR Spec prelude is the Type S. There is a regulare prelude model S but it's not a Type-S. In any case there is no Blue valve cover H22A. Please read our faq.

i trust everything busted has said, he is very knowledgeble with hondas. i just believe there is a blue top H22a. you never know, honda had so many variations on the motors like the all wheel drive civic in 85-86, or the honda dunk, a factory turbo honda. i bought a blue top h22a from hmotorsonline and it was confirmed to be an SiR with a blue valve cover so i believe there is one.

All I can say is prove it. Provide us with the Vehicle, Year, Documentation, and pictures and we'll add it to our FAQ here where we can all learn.

In all our collective research this engine has failed to surface in every Accord and Prelude we've researched, even the wierd shit that comes out of Honda of UK.

So if it does indeed exsist we've missed and I'm sorry in my ignorance BUT I'm pretty sure I'm right and I'm not changing my mind without some persuading, "There is a blue top h22" isn't good enough for me.

And don't bring pictures of an H23A blue top wagon, or an H22A that some jackass but an F20B valve cover on, lol.

                        lol

whoa... let me double check, unless this h22 has a painted valve cover...or been changed

its on a 95 lude..let me ask the owner....JDM converted w/o the right hand drive...he had a lude clip and hence one of the few people with a successful climate control

i aint doubting u...cuz i've only seen in real life a blue top f20 and a blue top h22?????

but at the same time the person who owns the lude does simple mods....and i dont see why he would change the valve cover...

hey man, i aint here to cause shit, i seen stupid honda motors like b20 w/ a torque chamber and zc with an flat unlabeled valve cover....
                        (both i believe are edm)

oh btw, i've only seen ONE blue top out of all the JDM places here... the one on the lude i dont know where it came from...

BUT I WILL ASK... I COULD BE WRONG
