    H22a miserably failed emissions. Advice?

Well, took the car to emissions and it failed badly. One of the reasons is that im using the O2 sensor from the F22. Im going to replace that but im not sure that it will completely fix the problem?

The car runs great and does not smoke at all. Seems like i am running very rich. Here are some quick setup specs.

H22a w/ manual tranny - stock accord exaust setup - obx headers - aem intake. everything else is stock. everything on the engine is new as far as plugs, timing belt, cap rotor is concerned.

    Here are the results.

    HC (ppm)

    Cruise limit 160, emissions = 217 (fail)
    Idle limit 220, emissions = 502 (fail)

    CO (%)

Cruise limit 1.1, emissions 0.24 (pass!)
Idle limit 1.2, emissions 1.6 (fail)

your running the p13? any CEL?

i doubt its the f22 sensor... stick the stock f22a ecu in there, i bet it doesnt run as rich as the p13

    and then swap it back

      Yes, p13.

The only cel i get is a 36? which i believe is a traction control error code?

some jdm preludes had traction control i guess...

i think HC is related to the old distribitor cap and rotor.

thats about all the advice i can give you.

but it may lead to lower fires so more carbon...so maybe u otta try that...

What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

and of course the f22 o2 sensor would make a difference, because it is designed to read emissions from a f22. not a h22 so the ecu is getting false readings.

i cant believe they didnt fail you just because yo uhad a CEL........

i say just stick the damn f22 ecu in there and re test for free..... it would pass you

Im assuming using the f22 ecu w/ the h22 would run the engine much leaner.

how does the h22 handle the f22 ecu?

i would think that vtec wouldnt work, and the knock sensor would be worthless?

                  H22A Passes Smog Test?

WOW...an H22A can pass an emmissions test in an Accord? My friends have always gone the not so "ethical" way. . .

                    ^ what u mean?

                    its a h22a not a h22

what does it matter if you have vtec or not? they arent measuring Vtec cross over or anything.........

why do you say it would run lean? as far as i know Accord ecus run rich if anything...

Would running the F22 ECU work to pass emissions? I'm dreading that test next spring! If my car fails, I'm screwed! I'm still looking for a "not-so-ethical" shop to push me through...

The government and local law enforcers are cracking down on those not so ethical smog shops. I just had my car smogged 2 months ago the legal way. I'm almost done with my H22A swap and I have another 22 months to go before I have to smog my car again. It would totally suck if California made us smog our cars once a year. Currently its once every 2 years.

Same in Jersey... 2 years. I think we're second to CA in the strictness of emissions laws.

They're cracking down on the unethical shops around here too... I was told by a shop that they can lose their inspection license and pay like 100k in fines if they're caught. They even said that govt. officials will sit in their cars and watch for signs of shadyness from across the street... You know, if a car goes in there spewing black smoke and comes out with a passing sticker...
