okay i'm trying to adjust the FITV because its making my rpm's fluctuate and i heard just tightening it would fix it. i want to try to tighten it first to see if it makes a difference before i go ahead and replace the whole thing. i tried to remove the metal plate on the top but the two philip head screws are on there pretty tight. everytime i would try to unscrew them , chunks of mettal would just scrape off. any way to get these off easier?

Phillips head drivers are notorious for not working well when they are worn even a little bit. Try a new driver if your existing one is at all suspect (tip, don't buy a cheap one).
If this doesn't work (likely because the screw head has been too dmaged by the old driver) then you can probably cut a slot on top of the screw with a hack saw and use an ordinary flat blade driver (tip, don't cut the slot too deep, and if your flat blade driver won't fit you can file the slot wider with a needle file).
Or, just do what I did; blank the FITV air flow off with some thin shim (e.g. drink can metal between the plenum and the FITV, also using gasket sealant) so it doesn't have any affect at all. All this will do is lower your cold idle speed which doesn't really create any problems, but if you don't like it just delete the blanking plate.Regards from Oz,
John.
