    Black Injen

Hello everyone , well i just ordered an Injen short ram intake on Saturday, and I wanted the black powdercoated one, but they just called me today and they said that they just found out that the black one has been dicontinued but that they can get a hold of the polish one pretty easily... but I want it black ..lol, so my question is should I just shop around to see if anyone has the black one in stock, or should I just get the polished one and paint it myself. If so, how would I go in doing so, should i also get it powdercoated or is there other types of paints that I can use, and by any chance will painting it affect its performance in any way (negative/positive: like high heat coating paint
    )
Or what other alternatives will you guys reccommened?
Well thank you in advanced for any input .

if you really want to paint it, all you would need to do is mask off any important stickers like the carb sticker, etc, and sand the aluminum down with around 600 grit sand paper. then just clean it well and spray it.

I am guessing painting with high heat paint will deflect some heat, not really positive on that though.

Paint will chip, so powder coating will be a good idea if you plan for the finish to last. There is a place buy direct tuning and down the street from work that does powdercoating for cheap.

from my experiences, high heat paint wont do much if anything at all in regards to heat transfer. I will just withstand the heat better. You want something like a ceramic paint for heat dissipation. but really if its a SRI it wont matter much cause its still sucking in warm air.

Thanks alot Jesus . so you think that i should just go with the polished one and DIY, or keep looking around. BTW I ordered the Intake from Direct tuning on Saturday, they still haven't updated me on the RS-R exhaust though...Have my finger crossed

imo i would just leave it polished Jose, but if you really want to have a black one, then powder coating would be best for longevity and best results.

Diy is also fine as long as the proper prep procedures are followed.

          Good luck with the search

Hmmm, Ceramic paint.. sounds pretty interesting.. maybe something like this:

Dupli-Color® High Heat Paint with Ceramic

Resists temperatures up to 1200 degrees F, intermittently
            Durable ceramic formulation
Tough cured finish resists oil, gas grease, rust, salt, humidity, and solvents
            6 colors
            EZ Touch® Nozzle
I know it most likely will not make much of a diffirence.. but it won't hurt to try... hopefully , thanks for the input.

Couldnt you order a set from injen? Proving it to them that you buy from them. Dunno how that would workout lol. I have heard some people will let you buy CARB decal lol.

I'll probably try contacting Injen tommorow and see what they say, hopefully they have some on backorder or something. I wonder why everything in black is harder to get a hold of, even with the ES bushing kit I got the black one but it took like 2 months for them to get it while I could have gotten the red ones almost immediately... doesn't anyone like black...lol

From what I know injen is one of the few companies that certifies their products, thats why to cost a little more.

To the OP, If you tak it to shop to get powder coated it should be less than 20bucks. The person can do it with other jobs as well instead of preping and shooting one little 2 foot project and baking it for a couple of hours.
BTW BAD ASS SUSPENSION, how does it handle?

Dude seriously stick to your own threads. You already made a thread about the same question you're asking. Don't go making a thread about one question and wondering off thread jacking other peoples thread asking the same question as the one on your thread.
