    Question about power windows

If i take my key out of the ignition after turning off the car and before i open the door to get out, should the windows still be able to roll up and down?

every car i have been in with power windows needed the key in the on position for the windows to work (my dad's 01 silverado being the only exception)

i just noticed this happening and i was wondering if its not supposed to work this way would it be a relay problem? i swapped the relay with the cooling fan relay since my fans werent coming on as they should. now the fans work but whats up with the windows? and if it is supposed to work this way....thats cool too

it will still roll untill u open the driver's side door. it cuts off the power after the driver's side door opens.

Great achievements result from great effort

        both

For me either/any door opening will cause them to cut off.

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

          Front doors

If I recall my owner's manual correctly, as long as a front door (passenger or driver) isn't opened you have some time to play with the windows. I don't think it said how long, but from my experience it seems to last ~ 5 minutes. Kind of a sweet feature. In my old car the key had to be in the run position, but it wasn't a sweet car like my 92 LX.

Yeah, it works for like 5-10 min after the ignition is off, as long as the doors arent opened.

yup, back doors don't affect it.

I'm jealous of the VW's in which you can put all the windows down at once with the key. I hate them.

I can do the following with my remote:

                      1) Roll down windows
                      2) Roll up windows
                      3) Open sunroof
                      4) Open all doors
                      5) Remote Start
                      6) Trunk pop
                      7) Open/Close power folding mirrors when they go on.

Back on topic.. you can roll them up and down before you open driver door.. as said plenty of times above.

                        Automatic up?

Why is there no automatic up? That is one thing that has baffled me for a while. I have driven probably 5 vehicles with auto-down on the driver's side, but never once have I been in one where there is an auto up.

Because it would be too easy to get something stuck in the window, like your arm, head...
