    Stalling/CEL problems..

I made a post the other day of the problems I was having with my H22, but here's a post of more detail about the problems.

A week ago from today a guy from Columbus came and sold me a radiator since mine was all trashed from when I hydrolocked it. It would leak along the engine bay seal, so we took the old one out and put this one in. It holds up, no leaks at all so we are fine. But as you all know when you take the old radiator out, you lose tranny fluid so I had to get more of that. I drove the car the next day to a friends house to sand it more (10 min away).. came home and the car sat for like 3 days.

I checked my tranny fluid and I saw it was low, obviously since we changed the radiator, so I drove to K-mart to get some fluid. They didn't have any so I just took the car home. On the way to the store, the vtec kicked in just fine and was running fine. On my way home, my CEL light came on and my D4 light was flashing. I have a JDM TCU, so the D4 light is never on but it was blinking this time. My vtec wouldn't kick in since the CEL light was on.

I checked all the plugs on the wiring harness, checked the ECU and TCU and they are fine. So I did the paper clip thing in the little blue socket and I was getting either a #15 or #16, I couldnt really tell since I was on the other side of the car.

The car would also have horrible throttle response, I'd give it gas and it sounded like it wanted to stall. The CEL light was still on.. but I went to start it up the other day and it sounded so horrible.. I gave it a little gas and it stalled out and I haven't done anything since then. I put in 2 quarts of tranny fluid, oil level is fine.. and I don't know what the problem is.

I need to get this car running again so I can get the rest of the body work done, but it just stalls out on me now.

Have you tried checking your coolant? It may have leaked without you knowing. I had the same problems before and it turned out that I hadn't tightend the clamps on my hoses enough and the coolant leaked out. That's just a starting point. Aside from that, check all your other hoses.
O'skool fo sho! You might hate, but I been doin' this long before you know.

Hey Adam! Good to see you're still around and your car is lookin sexxi as hell! Sucks you're havin some issues with it. I'm not sure if the code 15 or 16 you're talking about is the D4 light flashing or the CEL flashing. If it's the CEL, then 15 is the ignition output signal and 16 is a fuel injection system fault. If it's the D4 light flashing, then it has to be a code 15 and that indicates that there is a problem with your mainshaft speed sensor or the wire connecting it to the TCM. I'd verify which code you have. The procedures for fixing each of those is completely different. Get back here with more info on which code it is.

CEL is throwing code #6 at me.

6 short blinks.. and the D4 light blinked I think 2 slow times when the CEL was blinking.

The car won't even start.. it almost starts really quickly but just stalls right before it ignites.

ACCLUDE, I need your help more than ever now.

Please also note that I replaced my radiator last week sometime so this could be affecting the error I am having. My tranny fluid seems to be fine, looks a little high on the dipstick but I guess it's fine. Oil is fine, although I'm getting an oil change when I get the car running again.

Number 6 is engine coolant temperture sensor. That's the sensor on the head under the distributor. It's a two wire sensor right next to the one wire sensor (the one wire sensor is the temp sending unit for the gauge on the dash).

Check that out, I've never run into a car that threw that code. Maybe it came unpluged?

Code 2 from the D4 indicator light is:
          - Disconnected lock-up control solonoid valve B connector.
          - Short or open in lock-up control solonoid valve B wire.
          - Faulty lock-up control solonoid valve B.

Have you tried reseting the ECU/TCU?

I checked the sensor (the single wire one) and the wire was kinda beat up. I put more electrical tape around the spot that looked beat up and plugged it back into the head, and the car started up just fine. No more CEL's or anything.

Drove the car all night long, VTEC was kicking in just fine. I was soo happy to get it running again!

This is the plug (right below the distributor cap) that was making my car run like it did and throw the CEL's at me.

These are supposed to be bolted to the distributor cap, but I don't know if there's a bracket I'm missing or something. But I need to find one sometime soon.
