    Auto tranny questions and concerns

Ok I have an H22 auto and tcu sitting in my shop waiting to be put in and I have some questions regarding the issue.

Ok my first question is that will it hurt to put the P13 TCU on my F22a auto tranny. I tried it today and it shifts like a damn Nissan. Like if im driving it easy it will shift at like 2k rpm but with my regular accord tcu it shifts at like 3k rpms.

Next question is is it worth it to drop the H22 auto tranny into it to acheive greater acceleration? I have it left over from an H22 swap I done and my old accord trans is dying slowly. How much 1/4 mile time will I gain from this swap?

If I plan to put the H22 auto in right now, how would it react to boost? I plan on boosting the piss out of my F22 later on down the road but I dont know what tranny to use. I plan to keep the car automatic due to what happened to my last auto to manual swapped car. (kept snapping the welded motor mounts)

Also I noticed that sport mode acts kind of funny on that P13 TCU. It shifts at 6k full throttle but with sports engaged I will acheive the rev limiter. My shift lock is also stuck for some reason.

I would recommend a tranny oil cooler to anyone running a auto tranny. Unless you happen to be in Alaska....

There have been people that have boosted on the stock auto trannies and are fine.

As for the shiffting problem, I'm not really sure but... Would it be caused by the gear ratios being different?

got the same setup installed. the shift lock stays one due to something about them not having one in a certain accord mode that the same tcu comes in you can wire it up or jus press the button next to the shifter like i do. i jus always start tha car in netural. i dont have sports mode... so i cant really help you with that...

Hi I might be able to answere a few question for you base on my car/experience only.

          1. Yes you can use the p13 TCU on the f22 tranny, but the shift point will be low using the P13 TCU, that is normal all P13 TCU do that. at 30mph i'm at 4th gear at part thottle on the h22 auto -with the H22 TCU.

          2. The H22 tranny is worth it if you are reving it past 7k rpm, for NA the H22 auto tranny will achive faster acceleration in the 1/4 miles then the F22. Not sure how much but I can say at least .1 -.2 faster.

          3. If you plan to boost the piss out of it then neither the F22 or H22 auto tranny will last. I will say that anything over 330-whp is the max that an H22 auto tranny can handle, I have over 315+whp on my h22 auto tranny but I treat my well and H22 auto tranny has an option for LSD which really help beef up the tranny. You will need a complete built-up tranny to make over 350whp on auto.. big boost on auto is great you will stay in boost and have longer gear, so you don't have the boost drop and shift like manual. Keeping high power auto car does cost more money and tuning will be the very time comsuming.

          4. regarding the sport button in japan they also have the sport button in their h22 accord auto. SO the JDM P13 TCU does use that feature. With the sport button on my auto shift around 3-3.5k rpm vs sport off around 2krpm. Sport button on auto shift point at 7krpm in 2nd, 3rd gear. button off it shift at 6krpm in 2nd and 3rd gear. So the 90-91 auto accord sport button work with the JDM 93-94 auto H22A TCU. The shift point also depend on your throttle usage. at light throttle useage less then 20% it shift low 2-3krpm, med throttle over 35% shift around 4-4.5krpm, so it shift depend on your drive style- drive like a grandma and save gas or drive like a sport car and drink more gas.. I alway drive with my SPort button in the city and off when crusing on highway-where I do manually shift for races.

          5. the shiftlock issue see the h22 swap, there is one wire that the u need to run from the shift lock connector under the auto shifter to the p13 TCU. or if your lazy like me i zip tie the shift lock lever so I don't have to use the key each time.

hope this help- and hope to see another boost auto cb7 that will be able to endure the boost and stay daily driven for a long time. More respect for those high power street dailey driven car that see the road 7 day a week vs those weekend track car that only see action a few time a months.
