    Trans grinding Question

I just did my 5-speed swap and I am having trouble with high rev grinds. I am using quakerstate peak performance 10w 30 oil in the trans as thats what the FSM told me. After the grinding I immediately thought the synchros were bad but after a little research I found that if you dont use the honda mtf it will grind. Can anyone shed some light on this theory.
    I need a 14b or 16g turbo!

i don't have my 5spd anymore but i've heard nothing but good things about that new Acura/Honda MTF with similarities to that GM Synchromesh.

GM synchromesh definatly cleaned up my grinds in my old tranny. not completely, but definatly helped it out a lot, more so after 500 miles of fluid break in.

but honda MTF may do the same thing for you i have never used it.

honda mtf is esentially 10w30 with some light detergents in it. in my race car i run strait 30 weight and never have a problem with grinds.

new master and slave cylinders work wonders if the mtf doesn't fix the issue

keep in mind though that if it grinds on a pretty regular basis you have either bent a shift for or screwed up a syncro. no fluid can fix physical damage

If this was a recent swap maybe the shifter cables are out of adjustment? As far as the oil goes, I got rid of a grind into 1st (downshifting at anything over 5-10mph) by dumping the fresh honda stuff and using Torco mtl. That was in my wifes 2000EX.

even if the mtf is 10w 30 with extra detergents...it's not 10w 30...it's honda mtf...formulated for the honda manual tranny

Transmission oil doesn't need extra detergents or any at all, it needs anti-sheer additives because of the metal to metal contact.

i agree with this statement however, but a motor isn't metal to metal contact?
