Best way to clean spark plug wires

So i recently found some oil on 1 or 2 of my plug wires / plugs. so i'm replacing some gaskets and putting in new plugs... I am trying to avoid buying new plug wires. i was talking to my mechanic and he said spray a lil break cleaner in the plug connectors to clean them up.

is this dooable? will it work? is there a better way to clean those lil connectors?

well the best would be to get some contact cleaner made for electronics...but without getting fancy anything that can break down oil will work...brake cleaner...carb cleaner, etc.
