    Transmission vs. engine problem

i am not 100% sure but i think this has to do with my transmission. it only happens ocassionally, but sometimes when i start the car and go to pull out, it lack all power for a couple seconds. then it picks back up and is fine. very annoying though. it is an automatic and 3 months ago when my TCU went out i replaced it with one from an LX but my car is an EX. this problem only started like a month ago. also replaced my o2 sensor twice in the past 3 months, so i don't know if that has anything to do with it. any advice?

What does your tranny fluid look like? When was the last time it was flushed/replaced?

Honestly, it sounds like your AT starts to fully engage shortly after you're moving.
No more cb7, 7 years of ownership and 196K on the ticker before she was sold

Current beast: 98 ej8 on 7psi with a 15g turbo and other goodies!

Do you know for a fact that the used TCM was in fact good? Early '90's TCMs are notorious for burning up. So it's possible the one you got is also on it's way out. Do a search for this post: "TCMs for sale". This post will tell you how to check your TCM.

          tranny problems..

My '93 10th Anniversary is having a tranny problem also. In D4, the car starts off in 3rd gear judging by the rpm and speed, then shifts to 4th after a while. It doesn't downshift to any lower gear than 3rd when I slow down.

Right now I'm having to shift the car myself, by putting it in D1, then to D2, D3, D4. But here's the thing, when I shift it to D2, it shifts to 3rd, and once I hit 40 hit downsfts to 2nd.

Are these symptoms of a fried TCM? I'm having a friend check out the board to see if it's done with.

Also...is it bad for my tranny to be driving like this?
