    help with temp. guage install!!!

where do i put the temp sensor sending unit? I'm not sure if thats what it is called, but it is the metal piece that goes in the water, and reads the temp.

I don't really want to disconnect the factory one, because i want to compare the two readings, and because it throws a check engine light when discconected.

    HELP!

    thanks!

well that goes right under the distributor....... you cant miss it there is a water hose right next to it... try using a "T" fitting to keep the stock sending unit.. what kinda gauge is it??

shouldn't the actual port be 1/8 npt, and the guage should also be the 1/8 nad should come with a 1/4 npt adapter.. As for the "t' fitting, check ur local hardware store and get a 1/8 npt fitting..

The block isn't threaded for NPT, its threaded for BSPT. They're very similar but they are different. For my oil pressure sender I will use a simple BSPT--> NPT adapter ($6). That would at least get you to a NPT tee but then you'd need to find a NPT --> BSPT converter.

Or you could figure out what kind of output the stock sender has and get a NPT threaded sender with dual outputs; one for the stock gauge and one for the one you're adding (tho you'd then have to get an electric gauge)

couldnt you also rethread the temp port from bpst to npt???

Not really. You'd just end up cross-threading the block/head. I think the difference is something like 1 turn/inch. So NPT would be 1/8" 28 and BSPT is 1/8" 27, 28 and 27 being the number of turns required to screw in a bolt one inch.
