Quick question... My ride is overheating and I just replaced the thermostat and its still doing it, and fans work fine, but when the car is in park or neutral the idle revs up and down from about 1100 to 1800 over and over again, I'' sure this is an easy diagnosis but i'm a noob... So can you guess please help me up my mechanic level thanks

Worry about the overheating first. Did you bleed the system?

You probably have air in the system. The idle oscillation is caused by the idle air control motor not having hot coolant in it. It doesn't know how to run the engine because its air. You have to bleed the cooling system first. Then worry about overheat. Make sure its full and you dont have any leaks. Try replacing your radiator cap too! that can cause an overheat.

ok I loosened the bleeder bolt and started filing the radiator and nothing ever came out of the bleeder what's up with that I threw a whole bottle of coolant I'm on my way to get more but how much would a empty radiator take and as for as I checked no leaks ima go get a radiator cap tooComment
