is it possible that a bad motor mount, or broken downpipe bracket (holds dp to the block), can cause the gasket between the header primaries and the downpipe to keep blowing out?

I don't see why the Header gasket would fail even if the DP isn't connected to the block. I mean its held in place w/ 9 bolts, so that should be more than enough to keep it sealed. In addition to the DP being connected to the Cat conv.

not talking about the header to block gasket, it's the header to downpipe gasket (3-bolt, triangular flange gasket).
i'm missing the bracket, and replacing the mount soon. just want to know if i really need the bracket. i dont want to install the gasket, just to have it blow again because of the bracket missingOriginally posted by ChIoVnIdCado you have that

oh I thought you were talking about the head gasket, the one that bolts to the head w/ 9 bolts. Um.....I doubt that gasket would go bad, maybe it's not tightened down all the way?
