more than likely, where did u buy it, see if it has a warranty. usually brand new parts have a pretty good warranty

If you cared enough for an answer, you would have provided information on where you bought this part from, what brand, etc. This is obviously a part quality issue, so why wouldn't you do that? You need to put more thought into your question(s), if not you will get nothing in return.

I know I'm playing with fire, but that's a little harsh.

To the OP, more than likely, it was just a bad part. Corners of chamfers, like the one on the distributor pictured, are usually weak points. Regardless, metal shouldn't break like that. Grab your receipt and return that thing. Hopefully the broken pieces of metal didn't fly into the head.

i dont know the brand but i bought it new from a local performance shop. i had an old distributor laying around so i took the broken part off and put the one from my old one.i went to the shop and they never saw this part broken.they gave me a new one.the 2 other broken pieces where just on the side when i removed the dist. so i took long nose pliyer and took the 2 pieces out.

sorry for not providing anough information but its hard to whrite the good terms in english when i speak french.

Good to hear, it would've been terrible if that faulty part had caused more unnecessary damage.
