code 41: o2 sensor heater, i need some input.

***LONG VERSION*** scroll down for short

sup guys, well my check engine light has been on for awhile, but i havnt done anything because my car wasnt acting up in awhile('92 LX). a couple months ago, my car would stall out, then come back on multiple times while driving. sometimes it wouldnt start.

well this went away after i didnt drive my car for about 2 weeks cuz it was so bad, until i took it to a mechanic. he said he couldnt find anything wrong with my car (check engine light wasnt on at this time) so i drove it for the next 2 months perfectly. during this time, i didnt hvae my system hooked up, so i thought that my amplifier was puting too much strain on my alt so it couldnt drive the car (amplifer has a 120 amp current).

recently though, i have since put my amp back in, and it has stalled out maybe 3 times over the past month. for the past week, it has stalled out about 3 times, and i havnt had my system in so i know it wasnt that, and it actually was my o2 sensor heater. i was wondering if i have to replace the whole o2 sensor or not?

    ***SHORT VERSION***
check engine light came on, code #41. replace or no?

PS:also, i am buying an ex header and downpipe. how would i go about installing the o2 sensor on this? would i have to buy an ex sensor? lemme know

ok bro, the ex header is obiously below the car therefore you need to extend the wires on the oxygen sensor. I say when you get the ex headerm just buy a new sensor so you will never have to worry about that. Then you can enjoy your new power and clean sensor.

there is another part of the 02 sensor though, the sensor heater...get a helms and it will show u how to diag it...
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!
