    Auto-tranny broken or what?!

Swapped my cb7 because my old f22`s auto-tranny wouldnt shift, and bought a h22a with prelude automatic transmission, but.......
After swapping, this "new" tranny (92-95) had the same problem.
First gear is gone and seems like D3 is gone to, second gear and D4 works.

Using prelude TCU, and NO checklights except when im placing the shifter in D4, the green "sport" light is solid/steady on. Couldnt find any CEL for that..
    Changed fluied.
    Revs good in netrual/park position.

Dont know if its relevant, but can hear a "clicking" from the tranny when going 40-50 mph..

    Someone please help me?!
IF the tranny is broken, what trannys will work on the JDM OBD1 H22A vtec engine?! Can easily get a f22a autotranny..

I just had this problem with my stock 91 EX.....my TCU was giving me a code 07 so I changed the shift solenoid and all the gears came back. Good Luck!

      Where is this shift solenoid?

Will this cause the tranny not to work with first gear? As written, i do not have 1 first gear.. Not at all. Have to move the shifter manually..

I had the same problem but mine was the 700 dollar transmission control unit. You should really think about getting it checked out.

ok so it might be an idea to change the prelude TCU? Can i use the old f22 tranny tcu ?

Seems wierd when both transmissions had the same problem with diff TCU !?

When I had the problem I had second and fourth gear only and it shifted to 4th very quickly. There are two pair of solenoids on the front of the trans in the general area of the dipstick. The upper pair are for lockup.....the lower pair (harder to get to) are the shift solenoids. I jacked up the passenger side of the car to give better access to the bolts on the solenoids. There are three bolts with 10mm size heads holding them on and one electrical plug. I had to use a long wrench on the bottom bolt and access it from the bottom of the car to break it loose. Then I was able to us a small ratchet from the top. I do not know if the solenoids from your old trans are compatible but it might be worth a try. As with all electrical components disconnect the battery before you start. Good luck!

              hey thanks for info=)

But ive allready changed these 2 solenoids located at the front of tranny..One of the solenoids was broken off when i got it, so i took the old one from f22 tranny and placed it on..

Btw, could it be a bad solenoid causing the tranny not to shift properly?

If you had the same problem with the old trans and you used the same solenoid on the new trans..................yes. Try to get another to replace it.

I see.. U mean replace both solenoids, top and bottom?

Can i take a solenoid from an f20a auto tranny?
