    Rough shifting

Just wondering if any one else notices this sometimes. What happens is when changing gears with the clutch fully depressed it still feels like there is a gate, or a little knob that makes it rough to shift into a gear, for example third. Ofcourse when decellerating i cant put the tranny in a lower gear unitll i reach a certain speed, is this normal? Thanks guys.

I've noticed that too, third and sometimes reverse.

I've always chalked it up to an old tranny with worn syncros.

Jim: Well, my name is Jim, but most people call me... Jim.

really? I was thinking maybe my clutch wasnt fully disengaging but i guess not, is there anything we can put in or repair to fix this without replacing the synchros.

I'd try bleading the clutch first to be sure that's not your problem.
If that doesn't solve your problem you'd probly want to try draining your tranny and refilling it with new fluid of your choice.
Honda MTF or GM synchromesh are the fluids I'd reccomend

when decelerating try rev matching the rpms. this works well, and is something good to learn in an emergency situation, like if ur clutch goes while ur away from home. and yes use only honda mtf with some lucas stabilizer.

Do you even know what double clutching is??
Here's a video of how to:
                  http://www.standardshift.com/videos/..._downshift.mpg
He does a somewhat sloppy job of double clutching but it will show you what it is. He also fails to say that honda trannys don't have very good syncros.

i am familiar with road racing. thats what i do, you forget i live in upstate new york. my daily drive is a road course.

and as far as synchros go, honda trannys are better built then most others ive pulled apart, but your right, their synchros arent that great.

                    *sighs* kids these days.........

I actually had the same problem there for awhile, I got the clutch replaced and now it's working fine. I don't know that that was the problem though, it may have a been a few other things I got replaced at that time... but I doubt it.
