Can't buy R-12 yourself, to my knowledge. Damn freon laws.

You can try the R-134a conversion kit. I did, and it may just be a bad mechanical part, but my A/C compressor gets all pissed off when I turn it on now. Kinda sounds like a squealing belt, but much worse. The sound goes away at about 1650RPM.

But if you wanna try it, there's always that The kit goes for about $35.

R12 refrigerant. Its about 40 bucks a can so around 60 bucks after they add labor to it is what it cost me recently.

Make sure you don't have any leaks first, if you think you might, have them put dye in and then go back like 2 days later after its circulated in the system. Then they'll check w/ the blacklight for any of that dye. If you don't think it has leaks, then just tell them to add some R12.

Luckily mine was just low so he added a can of it.
