    Quick U.Ball joint Q

Just a quick question to clear the air.. Is the only way to replace the upper ball joints is to replace the whole controll arm? that is what I have read but looking at the ball joint it looks like a "C" clip is holding it on.

My last question is if it is indeed removable would a lower ball joint be the same as an upper?

    Thanks

Remove the C clip and bang it out, A few places sell the replacements.

The upper and lowers are different.

They are removable and they sell adjustible ball joints that go in its place to adjust camber. I don't like those style camber kits from experience. SAS Auto has a whole upper control arm assembly with a adjustible ball joint but aren't to cheap.

So if you pull the ball joint and messure it with a mircometer you might be able to find a place that sells them. Otherwise you have to get a new control arm.

^You could, since Honda actually stated those b/j's were replaceable, but I'd stick w/ your stock UCA's, unless the bushings are shot, replace the b/j's.

ive replaced 4th gen upper balljoints before but again, for the price of the balljoint, you'd be better off getting an entire arm. i paid 40 bucks for my balljoint.

Your upper control arms are at best 15 years old and I am pretty sure you are having a sqeaking noise when you go over speed bumps that is worse in the winter, most do. The pivot joints on the control arm wear out and makes noise over time. Get the whole arm like others have said. You will notice a pretty big difference and the slop in the old ball joints will scare you.
