    Intermitten SRS light

It's been covered, I wanna get some opinions from those with some more exp. before I throw a $200 part on my car.

    Problem:
when it's warm outside it is worse, the srs light will flicker as I turn my wheel, sometimes stays on...sometimes when i honk the horn it'll turn off...likely hood it is the srs cable reel is what I'm wondering vs it being something else...a short none-the-less but I'm assuming it'd be the cable reel from my searches.

How much of a bitch is it to replace that, just deactivate the airbag electrical system, remove bag, disconnect, replace? I've worked on airbag systems before and know of the precautions for power disconnect btw, and what it takes to remove the steering wheel (star nuts, triple jointed fingers sometimes)had to replace airbags but it was on a few 03 toyota matrix's, but never on an accord...should I expect similar difficulty?

Any one priced a cable reel outside of a dealership or not a good idea to go outside the dealership? I would imagine I shouldn't cheap out any on airbag stuff.

Y'all think it could be anything else given the symptoms?

    Thanks for any help.

mine was doing it and my horn didn't work..

a friend hooked me up with a cheap used cable reel.

and horn works but light still comes on and off while turning wheel...i just learned to
    ignore it

I want my airbag to work, also the horn works fine in my case.

      *edit added*
I'd like to have the part before taking apart...how do I know whether I have the ALPS or SUMITOMO reel? Will the dealership know off of my vin?

Heh. That's the way to do it.

I'm having a similar problem on my car so I hope this gets resolved. Except I think mine is the air bag itself since my horn works fine. I don't care if the airbag works or not when I drive, but that light being on will hurt its resale value.

it may not be the airbag but the cable reel...which is what my original post is about. I have not found a site selling the airbag unit, only the cable reel
