Auto Tranny problem?

all of a sudden my car wouldnt come out of park without using the shift-lock and starting it in neutral and d4 light stays on all the time and in d4 its like it starts out in 4th gear..but when i go to 1st its more responsive but when i shift to second it dont shift until i put it into d3 and then it dont shift when i go from d3 to d4. but today i can start it in park and take it out but it still dont shift.

check the tcu codes. it might be a bad shift cable and selenoids. but first get the codes.

where do i check the tcu codes at?

its the same as getting the check enginen codes but you don't read how many times the check engine light blinks but you read how many times the "S" light blinks.....

if you have no codes, then it may very well be your shift cable came undone, like on my car recently. I couldn't shift into P, R, or N b/c the 10mm bolt that secures the cable to the trans side came off.
