I've been thinking about this lately and I know this must have happened to fellow owners of lowered cars on here. I have banged up the front tow hook in the middle under the front bumper by pulling too far over parking curbs and such over the years. I've had my car towed a few times in the past when shit breaks and it always pulled onto a flat-bed cuz it can't be towed normally or stuff will drag. Well, i was looking at the hook and i have scraped about half of the metal away from it. Do you think it is compromising the tow ability? I am worried that next time its being pulled up onto the flat-bed it will break and my car will fly backwards and bang stuff up. Anyone here have this problem???

Hahah...yea, my hook has about 1/4" left...and the crossmember and downpipe, heck the whole xhaust has been dragged...
If theres not much left, theres always other places to put the hooks. If you can weld some more support back onto it, or just drag it off and say screw it.

mine is all torn to shit as well, i think it's from all the time i've bottomed it out driving way too fast on back roads.. lol... I was thinking of doing something about it, but i'm not too concerned.. I've actually never had a flat bed come to tow my car, only regular pickup trucks. you might want to look to see if you can replace it, otherwise, maybe suggest to the tower to use a different part of the frame then the little convienient hook.

On my car (90 DX) the front tow hooks are held on by bolts, take a look and if there like mine go to the yard and get some new ones!
Good luck! So, is that what you call a getaway?
Tell me what you got away with.
Cause I've seen more spine in jellyfish.
I've seen more guts in eleven-year-old kids.
Have another drink and drive yourself home.
I hope there's ice on all the roads.
And you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt,
and again when your head goes through the windshield.
And is that what you call tact?
You're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back.

I've got a 90 LX so i'm sure it's the same, maybe i'll take a look at a junk yard and see if they have any in good shape just in case, but i'm sure i'll bottom out my car after i put new ones on, so maybe i just wont worry about it.. we'll see how much they want..Originally posted by dusty
