Clutch Cable

Ok well i met someone from some other forum site. It was a chick.. shes soo into imports its sweet. anyways i let her drive my car and she said mine did the same thing as hers


Theres no clutch engagment.


I read on here about the master cylinder etc


But she told me she was 95% sure it is the clutch cable. It eaither needs to be adjusted or replaced.


Where will this be located?

yeah man, no cables here, but mine does that too, like 2-3 in of nothin at firtst, then it still seems real spongy, im used to it, but if i drive any other manual, its completely different, but idk man, id check the pedal, you can adjust it somehow, i havent been able to figure it out, but its supposed to be easy

Above the clutch pedal, there is a switch that you can adjust and it while raise the pedal engagement. I think that it is a 17 mm nut.

the lock nut is 12mm, u need a pair of pliers to spin the rod forward or backwards. there should be about 2 inches of play before anything disengages. if its too far up it will burn out ur clutch.

ok, how do I adjust this safely, so I don't burn the clutch? I get grinding in second gear, and it's hard to downshift into second or first, unless I pump the clutch multiple times..

Ya man, spongy, soft or non-engaging clutch means bad hydraulics. Especially if you're pumping the clutch to get it to work. Somethings wrong and what you're doing is building up enough pressure in order for it to work.

There is no cable at all for you clutch, none. The master cylinder is actuated by a rod directly connected to the brake pedal. At the other end of the system, there is a plunger-style slave cylinder that moves to engage/disengage your clutch.

Replacing the master, slave or both will be the cheapest and most logical first step.

eah, I know we ahve hydrolic systems, and I was hoppign u meant clutch pedal..not brake. anyway, my plan was to replace the master (that's attached to the pedal..right?) and I dunno if I need a slave. I knw I need the mater, cause if u look behind the pedal, at it,there is grease/oil leakin from that rubberboot there is...anyone know how much one of these are, at..say bumper to bumper, napa, or checker auto?

ok. I replaced my master cylinder (It was a biotch!) and spent 2 hours getting all the air outta the system, but it still feels the same as it did before. I dunno what else to do. Is there any like adjustablity to the actual shifter that might help? what can I do?

how can I tell if my slave is bad or not?
