    Overheating and the works...

The Story of My Car "Shattered Jade"
For a few weeks I used my brothers 93 accord and fell in love.
so last week I found a 93 accord with 176,000m (automatic) for a really good price.(that probably was the catch)
I bought it on a Wednesday, under the impression that the water temp. gauge was not working. It always showed overheating no matter what. The car ran fine and didn't seem to have any problems.
That Monday I had the radiator checked to see if there was any problems. (I noticed my coolant level lowered) I discovered my water pump was leaking and needed replacement. I had it worked on that day and the following day. They replaced the water pump, timing belt, balancing belt, and crankshaft seals. They also discovered my sending unit to the the gauge on the dash (water temp gauge) was reading incorrectly and replaced that and also replaced the thermostat because it was stuck closed. (replaced with an aftermarket thermostat)
After picking up the car Wednesday, The mechanic told me my fans were not working (only worked when the a/c was on)and my radiator was clogged. I jumped my fans by "hot wiring" the coolant temperature switch, and found they worked, but were not activating. So I replaced the switch. Still the fans didn't work.
The car overheats when the throttle is released to slow down and with the car is going 45+mph.
After reading up on the problem I tried bleeding the cooling system, and the problem continued. I drove the car to test it and ended up overheating my transmission. I figured I did this because my speedometer went haywire and my transmission light was blinking.(the D4 light) and the transmission started slipping and catching rapidly. I let the car cool for about 30 min and drove it home fine. ( but it still had the same overheat symtoms)
This Saturday I changed the radiator very confident that this was the source of the problem. Wrong. still the same symtoms, drove it for a while and tranny went crazy again.
So when I got home I tried taking out the thermostat and driving without it. WHAM. No longer overheating......
But after driving a while the tranny went insane again, but my temperature was not overheating. (btw my fans were still not activating, only when i used the a/c).
Well I tried it one more time and the car is not overheating on the gauge but the tranny is going crazy right from the get-go (about 200 feet). Slipping and catching. so i shut her down and came home to post my story and beg for help.
So after 10 days of owning the car I have driven it about 2-3 days and a total of 100 miles, with $630 dollars worth of repairs and I have no clue what is still wrong with it.
Someone please help my solve this problem or give some suggestions

the tranny problem is rough dude, your better off buying another one or converting to five speed, you obviously have some sort of mechanical know how so you would be ok and we would all walk you through it step by step.

the fans not working is a common. leave that be until you get the other kinks worked out, and u can keep your ac with the heat if that is a problem.

As for the guy that sold you this car, dont get mad dude, get even.
Finally Up and Running. Numbers to Follow. Check my MR

thanx. i got someone who knows a mechanic that works on hondas only. I'm going to see what they say and follow up.

I'm guessing it was the aftermarket thermostat that clogged the flow of the coolant (when going 45+mph) and the coolant temperature switch for the fans sit inside the thermostat housing.

But it's already too late I believe. The small amount of "test driving" to see if i had fixed the problem has burnt something up. I'm just hoping it's not too big. But with transmissions........ I'm poor did I mention that?
