ok ive taken mine OFF before, so only thing that i didnt do was put a new one on,
drain remaining gas from tank (drain nut drivers side of the tank.)

disconnect the fuel lines and filler pipe

Open your trunk there is a access panel for the float in the back right if your looking at the car from the back, might have to pull up carpet, there is 3 screws, and a wiring harness you need to remove in order to drop the tank, worry about removing the float when you have the new tank

there is 4 bolts holding 2 steel straps, that wrap the distance of your tank, CUT THEM OFF because you cannot finnagle your socket or wrench in there and if you could youll spend 3 hours doing so for 2 bolts. (the ones in the rear of the tank)

there is a under coating on all factory gas tanks, you might have to use a pry bar to get the tank to fall loose of the body, MAKE SURE TO support with either a jack a block of wood or brick, if your tank falls you can pull on the wiring harness for the fuel pump and it might damage it making this alot harder, slowly lower the tank with the help of a buddy or sissor jack, get it about 4 inches from the car reach up and dettach the harness for the fuel pump. then VALA ifs off and ready to replace.

remove fuel pump and float from old tank and install on new tank

    FIRST

Install straps at the rear they will go in then do a 180 bend and go around the tank hence the reason they would be so hard to get off. straps first, slip tank in position bring straps around the tank and bolt the easy 2 bolts at the mid of the car.

reverse for install, and either weld said bands that hold the tank on, or order them off the net, or at local parts store.
