New CB and some electrical issues

I just picked up a 91 EX for my wife last night. I would assume that the car went through a auto to manual conversion due to the auto cluster in the dash. My issues are...

    1. When I turn on the turn signals the front works fine but the rear both sides blink. I did not see any wire splicing going on back there.

    2. My speedo is not working...now, I would normally think this was the VSS, BUT could it also be related to the auto cluster??

Could the auto cluster be bad and causing this? Or maybe the turn signal switch? Thanks!!!

what do you mean by "the rear both sides blink".... they're turn signals, they'se supposed to blink.

On stock turn signal relays (and some aftermarket), there is a feature which causes the turn signals to flash at double-speed when there is a bulb burnt out. Check all your bulbs. If that doesn't fix it, change the blinker relay (under dash, driver's side). I doubt its the turn signal switch, but I did have to replace one once. Didn't have the symptoms you have though.

oh, and the VSS is known to go on these cars, so I'm willing to bet its either a broken sensor or was never or improperly connected when the auto/manual conversion was done.

whats the vin on the car? can find out if it was originally auto or manual by deciphering the vin.

I am damn sure after really looking at it tonight that it was a auto car, you can see where they clipped the harness off for the shift solenoids.

When I turn on my turn signal, lets say left...then both rear BRAKE lights blink, LOL what in the hell did these guys do? My fronts work perfectly fine. Now, when I have parking lights or headlights on then my turn signals don't work at all....they had to screw something up with wiring. Also, on the cluster, when my signals do work, the arrows don't light up. The "P" for park and the seat belt light dim and brighten with the blink.

BUMP, no one can help? I did notice that sometimes the fronts blink together too. Maybe the relay?

the previous owner probably crossed a wire or something for the tails. who ever did the auto to manual swap fails at electrical

Yeah, well luckily the guy is not on this site or I would be letting everyone know about this. He claimed NOTHING was wrong with the car, other than 2 things he told me about. I have found NUMEROUS problems that are not something you would find when looking at a car to get.

I canot find any wiring thats been messed with in the rear of the car, time to start tracing wires around.... AHHHHHHH

So, I have gotten some of the turn signal issue figured out. The front had the corners and the bumper lights spliced together, big no no...

BUT the rears are not working, fronts work. They are hyperblinking and the dash arrows still aren't lighting up....hazards still working fine.

GOT IT!!! FINALLY...ok so simple fix here. It was where they had spliced the corners and signals in the front together, they just didn't hook the wire up that runs the rear signals from the front socket. Hooked that up and we are gravy
