    Master cylinder prob.

Changed master cylinder(went bad) and the damn thing is still leaking around the brake booster.Wondering if anyone has had this prob. and knew a fix....the thing doesn't have a gasket on it from the factory so I maybe overtightened the bolts, not tight enough, something else wrong??? what gives

It didn't have a gasket from the factory? Like a gasket between the MC and booster? I've had to change my MC twice now and both have had a gasket there.

nope....only seal/gasket is on the backside of MC where it slides into the booster(round gasket)...none on the MC that butts up against booster. The parts car I have and mine both did not have one...checked the parts car today(both cars are 93 sedans one EX the other 10th AN).If urs has a gasket what is the material? rubber, cork???

      Anyone else???

Just because no fluid leaks doesn't mean your master is good. Could be internally bypassing or the proportioning valve is shot.

The gasket between the master and booster is only to keep dirt out not fluid in. If the seal at the rear of the master goes then it will leak out the back. (a common issue).
Hopefully not into the booster and then into the car itself. I've seen it, not pretty.

Check for Vacuum first before anything if you suspect the booster to be bad.

are you talking about the brake master cylinder or the clutch master cylinder?

I think the brake booster is still good but I could b wrong. Prob. is when I bleed all the brakes and have pressure in the system it leaks from around where the MC bolts to the brake booster..... no fluid in the car from what I can see.Booster vacuum is good.Let me ask this what do I need to go back and check?

If you have fluid leaking from around there, The master cylinder you have is bad, did you bench bleed it before installing? If you push the piston too far while bench bleeding it will occasionally tear/roll the seal and tah-dah you have a brand new master cylinder that is as worthless as your old one. Most of the parts stores will exchange it though.
