    porting an oil pump

I've been trying to find more info about this and I haven't found enough info to satisfy my curiosity. I've gotten some info from d16turbo.com but there isn't enough there for me to be happy...I've seen what they do, but there wasn't any real data showing the after math...nor were there really any good explanations.

That was a boosted forum...so it makes since to increase volume

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Questions:
Is it just opening up the intake/output ports?

Is there any other area that you port?

And changing the shim on the relief valve, about what size shim will do
What to the pressure of the pump?

What damage can result from to high of oil pressure aside from blowing out seals and to what extent should you increase oil pressure?

What mods necessitate greater oil volume in regards to N/A application.

My engine is stock...how will increasing oil volume via porting the oil pump affect my engine?

Won't porting decrease pressure if porting is the only thing you do?

Also, what are the dangers of higher volume flow...at what point do you risk sucking more out then what can drip back?

Aside from blueprinting is there any other good enhancements for the stock oil pump?
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know that's a lot of questions, but I've tried searching, all I can really find are LS1 and d16 threads where someone just says they did it...wasn't much discussion on the topic

Honestly, you will not find the answer on this forum. It is too specific and requires years of this experience.

You are best off having it done by Endyn, if your setup even requires it. Don't get sucked into the hype of thinking you need it. Most setups are fine with OEM stock, they are great. Don't spend money where you don't have to. Just because you buy expensive parts, does not mean they will work better than OEM, that is what I've learned. It's how well it all works together and how it was designed to work together.

My advice, stick with OEM stock components EVERYWHERE YOU CAN, only upgrade what you have to. Do the research yourself and only consider those with experience. There are many people on here that think they are reincarnated mechanics or performance tuners.

I was thinking along similar lines. Unless I added 2 or more components the required their own oil lines or additional flow then I wouldn't need to do this. Only things I can think of that would require this would be two or more of these; cooler, turbo, h22 head.

I agree with what your saying and sorta understand...since I don't haven't modded my engine nor am I fully familiar with stock oil flow and what those mods add to the load...or not...nor have I even hooked an oil pressure gauge up I can't fully understand...yet

I'm still curious as to HOW you do it and when might it be needed.
