I can only get 4.3 degrees BTDC when I turn the distributor to fully advanced. I remember that I had the same problem with my CRX at one point so I got a new distributor only to find that wasn't the problem. I opened up the CRX distributor and there were further adjustments that I could make inside and was able to correct the problem. When I open up the Prelude distributor, I don't see anything like that. What can I do to get more advance?

Ignition Timing Too Retarded

As Trah said.
I have done many timing belt jobs on F22ax motors and did one on a friend from Canada. I am convinced that his cylinder head must have been milled in the past, as I had to adjust the timing belt on the cam gear to non-stock like condition to allow the distributor to be lined up correctly for ignition timing. At first, I set the timing belt 2-3 times to stock position and rechecked ignition timing with a gun, every time it was off. Finally, I just set the timing belt to how the distributor wanted it for proper 15 deg BTDC and all said and done, the timing belt was I believe sitting 1 tooth retarded on the stock cam gear for me to get proper ignition timing. Of course the owner said it ran great after that and thanked me.

Stopped by my local Volvo shop (on the way home), and they told me the same thing...to check the cam timing. Perhaps I installed it a tooth off. I'll check this weekend.Originally posted by HondaFan81 View PostAs Trah said.

As for the F22 gears for sale, I'd need H22 gears. Thanks for the replies.

You must have missed the last post where I said the cam timing is perfect.Originally posted by Shag Wagon View PostIf nobody gets banned for trying to sell in here I am going to be mad......
Just adjust the cam timing accordingly. I honestly wouldnt play around with a timing gear(s) unless you have a hi-po cam(s).
I did just install brand new MSD cap, rotor, and coil. Might need to give them a call.Last edited by CB7 Fanatic; 07-08-2009, 12:36 AM.
