    Code 10, IAT Sensor

Hi, here's the basics of what's wrong with my 90 Accord LX. I have had a small exhaust leak for some time now, unrelated maybe??? for the past few weeks it has been hard to start. Seems like it's dragging when it turns over, but it does always start. About a week ago, I started getting real bad gas fumes in the cabin when warming up the car, and when the car gets warm, ie. after interstate driving, the idle starts jumping up and down when in nuetral. Then, the other night I was on the interstate and I went to downshift (5 speed BTW) and my clutch was laying on the floor. It came right back and I haven't had any clutch issues since then, but it just seemed odd that it would do this when I am having so many other problems. Unrelated as well??? My ECU is showing a code 10 (IAT Sensor) but I have no idea where this is, what it looks like or what symptoms it might cause. I've read on some posts that the Oxygen Sensor can cause some of these symptoms as well, but the IAT Sensor is cheaper, so if there's a chance that's what it is, I'd rather start there. Could you please advise as to which of the symptoms are related to one another, as well as the location\description of the IAT Sensor? Thank you.

the intake air temp sensor is located on the intake manifold.

looking from the drivers side of the engine bay at the middle of the back plenum you will see a grey connector and under it a white thing, held by 2 screws...you remove that and thats your IAT...you cant miss it, its a 2 wire connector.

it may just be clogged up with dirt, disconnected or just bad...

those are cheap i think, id jack one from the junk yard.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

    Retro!
