    Checking valves?

Okay, so as most of you know, I recently snapped my T-belt and was in the process of replacing it. I would have liked to do a compression test on the motor to see if any valves were bent or if anything else was wrong...but without a t-belt, I can't do a compression test.

Is there another way to check the valves w/o having to pull off the head?

Well, taking the valve cover off, you can see if the top portion of the valves are bent. However, to do the job correctly and not get deceived because you can not see the entire valve without pulling the cylinder head off...is to do it. I would say if you for some reason don't care to go to that extent, pull the valve cover off, if need be (if valve springs prevent you from checking the valves), then remove rocker arm assembly, camshaft and valve springs and you'll see most of the valve, but not the portion that's in the combustion chamber (if that's messed, only way to see it is pulling the head). Now, to go through all this trouble of removing all this to not pull the head off....I would say, while ur there why not? you've gone that far...but it's ur call....i think u said u were gonna sell the car and wanted a quick fix (i would say quickest fix is to have someone else do it if u don't want to take the time or are not gonna truly fix it anyhow...then pay someone else at least to do it right). I don't know about you, but if you're sellin it...i couldn't rip someone off like that w/out making them aware u did a "quick fix" and they may have probs later.

No, I am not looking for a quick fix just to sell it. I am trying to fix it correctly, I just didnt know if there was an easier alternative than to taking the head off.
