brake lamp problem ?

Ive been having a problem with brake indicator (the lamp that is shared with handbrake) on guages for some time now.... dunno how to name it..When i hit my clutch pedal the lamp turns off but when i release it the lamp turns on....and so on...what the hell?

That sounds like a short or something. That is very weird that its doing that
