    Car putters and dies help

    Ok I have a 91 Lx Auto.

It started when my wife was driving my car and it started putting not wanting to accelerate. When I got home to check it out it would not start so I let it sit for a few hours and it started so I drove it home and when you press the gas it would putter and not accelerate. As I drove it home the check engine light came on and when I pulled the codes it showed a 1. So I done a tried a few things which I will list below. But when I start the car it revs then drops down and dies and when you accelerate it putters and pops but no sound.

Here is random stuff I done before incase it helps. What I have done 3 years ago changed all belts including both timing belts and changed the cap rotor and plugs. Also I have a short ram intake with a K & N filter. About a 1 1/2 year ago I had the fuel system cleaned out.

Saturday I installed a fuel filter, new plugs, valve cover gasket set (I had oil on the plug wires), and a oxygen sensor. Also looked inside the distributor cap for oil as well and it was dry.

Sad thing it I just payed 500 to get hers fixed and she calls me to tell me my car it messing up.

Hmm... have your distributor tested. Though it might look fine, it might be the cause.
A similar thing happened to me. Though the cause of my sputtering/power loss and misfiring was my oxygen sensor. Though, it wouldn't cause the car to shutdown.
When it actually did shutdown it was my dizzy. Lucky that I shutdown at a nearby gas station with a kind enough employee that tested my dizzy with some sort of machine. No spark was reaching the engine.

Problem solved took the car to the shop and it was the fuel pump.
