    High Idle/Weird Tach Problems

Alright i'll give you the scoop first, alright i just put in a like all new exhaust (oem stuff) cause my dad doesn't want me to modify so right. new exhaust system and i got a used throttle body got rid of my check engine light and shit, (it was a code 7). Now the problem, the tach it flutters all through the rev range without the engine actually doing anything, but like if i rev it say, 3500rpm then it will flutter flutter die.....then the check battery and check oil light come on and i know it can't be the oil just changed it, so could it be the battery? like not enough current going to the like tach shit or like :S ideas plz? i just want my cb7 to run good :| i get to drive it by myself soon!! help a fellow cb7 lover i can't stand driving with my parents anymoer

sounds like u have a bad tps or a bad ground. check the ground by the thermostat housing. and make sure the housing is tight too.

the bouncing tach without the motor actually revving, then it dieing, sounds like possiable bad ground, or faulty ignitor/coil assy....

hey dude i was having a prob just like yours. Does it rev when you are giving it some gas and then when it gets to about 3 the tach starts to flutter back and forth from about 2700- about 3400? Something like that?

does the engine like misfire when you go higher than 4k? I had the fluttering tach, and misfire crap above 4k, and replaced the whole distributor, and that fixed it.

              fluttering tach

Hey I had an issue up until like a week ago. My car died a couple times and I had the fluttering tach issue. Then my car stopped totally on me and wouldn't start and I found out my ignition switch was bad. was like $110 for the part plus labor so yeah get it checked out. I was like half a mile away from getting to work at like 6 in the morn when it happend. If you get stuck somewhere it won't be fun. Secially if you don't have a way of pulling it and have to get a tow. Good thing we have a v8 van with tow hitch so I could get it to the shop. But yeah don't let it die on you cause it won't be cool. Specially if it's your first time driving by yourself!
