another common case is you replacing your bulbs with leds, there is a bypass n here like you ground the green and white wire on the black box r sum like that, type Brake lamp bypass in the search box
you mean, your lights stay on when your car is shut off?
If so, then its the switch on top of your brake pedal. an easy fix is to get a dime and tape it to the top of your brake pedal where it will push in the switch when the pedal is in its resting position. this should cut your lights off.

That's a $0.10 cent fix , I know a way that can save u $0.09 cents
Follow the brake pedal up its right there. There is a plastic tab that sits in the brake pedal that pushes the sensor. That probably broke cost like 50 cents at the dealer or you can get creative and use foam or tape to temporarily fix it.
Check your rear tail lights for water leaks. I had this problem a while back and it drove me nuts until I found the water leak. I changed the seal, never saw the light on again till a bulb blew.
I think 'rubennebur' is saying that we are talking about brake lamp bulbs constantly being illuminated (busted brake switch plunger), and he is talking about the "Brake Lamp" Indicator Light that is on the Safety Indicator Circuit along with the: Trunk, Driver's Door, Right Front Door, Left Rear Door, Right Rear Door Indicator Lights, c.f. the little picture of a car that shows a red light if the door is open and the car is on.
IF so 'rubennebur', that "Brake Lamp" Indicator is controlled by the Brake Light Failure Sensor, thread. Let us know if that is what you're talking about.
