    bisimoto piston question!!

I already did my turbo build. But i am burning oil, so its time to do my engine build. My question is do i need the coating on the bisimoto pistons???? I know it holds back more heat but is it recommended??? Anyone get it? Any one not get it?

That ceramic coating on piston tops are an option, you don't have to get it. However, it has some performance gains. Same for teflon coating on piston skirts.

Do what you can afford. I recommend atleast the ceramic coating, especially for a turbo build.

when doing the coatings, the machine shop has to know how much oversized they need to go. Typically .002-.005 depending on the coater. The coatings are nice but you can run over 500 with out the coatings.

so is there going to be any kind of overheating w/o the coating? or any problems.

no you wont have any issues with overheating. Overheating is caused by lack of cooling system efficiency and has little to nothing to do with pistion selection.

I have the bisimoto turbo pistons with tops and side coatings.

If you look at the overall aspects of its benefits the coatings cannot do anything but help. They help keep piston temperature down and the heat where its needed... in the combustion chamber. They also allow you to run a slightly tighter tolerance on ring gap which also helps. And the help with detonation resistance is IMO the best benefits.

Keep in mind that everthing bisi sells has some power abilities, while the coatings i think he stats is only a 5% increase in power, when you add up 5% here and 2-3% here all those little things add up to some substantial power.
