    need engine help

    Hey everyone,

Well I have a problem. I was driving my sedan home, everything was good, I have a gasket leak on my header and was going home to replace it with a new gasket.. i start driving up a hill and my car shuts off and dies, won't start back up. sounds like the starter is just winding up and doing nothing. well anyways, fast forward 3 hours later, I finally get the car home and off the flat bed. put it in the drive way, check my oil, it was pretty damn low, NOT empty but hella low. so I put 3 quarts in it, and leave it til the morning. I come outside and try to start it and it makes a loud grinding noise. so i stop and try it again, all it does is try to start once then make a thud. its kinda hard to explain. I have had someone tell me the motor is bad, had someone tell me, I just need new valves. I have no clue who to listen too.. Can anyone help me?

    thanks

if you ran your motor with no oil in it for who knows how long and then you put three quarts in. I bet it's safe the motor is good as dead, time for a replacement. An engine should never make a "thud" sound.

best bet for a positive answer is a video with audio, other than that its hard to say, could be your starter making the grinding thud noise, who knows. you should telescope for the sound
