It is most likely your battery. When your engine is cold there is a higher cranking load on the engine, and at the same time there is less cranking power from the battery. How cold is it down there?

          FITV perhaps?

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

Fast Idle Thermo Valve - its kinda like a thermostat I believe, it's a valve that is open or closed based on the temperature of the engine coolant. When the coolant is relatively cold it is open, making the idle higher so the car won't stall. If the idle is too low when the engine is cold it will stall. Once the engine has warmed up it will close, bringing the idle to its normal, low level.

Anyone back me up/correct me about that?
