    Weird cooling issue

    Hey everyone,

I am no noob to working on my cars, but I do have a question. I recently replaced my motor and did a cooling system flush, to which a bunch of nasty stuff came out.. I drove the car maybe a mile and a half before doing the cooling flush and changing the radiator. Well, I took it for its maiden voyage today from my house and made about a 25 min drive... well I noticed when at a red light, the temp gauge would go up towards the H and then when taking off and getting up to speed it would dip down to the C and then stay in the middle as I am driving.. What would cause this. My belief is that the Thermostat that I had just replaced has either A. Gone Bad, B. Clogged and needs cleaning, or C. is something totally unrelated.. If anyone can help, it will be much appreciated!

    Thanks

    Ian

when I flushed the radiator, I did it a few times with a radiator flush kit and solution that I picked up at honda, they said to use it. when everything was said and done, it was clean and good to go...

                    Possible, but not likely.

Sounds to me like your fans aren't kicking on. You should inspect them and make sure all the relays/wiring/motors are good.

I am only using 1 fan.. its on the passenger side of the car, I was told that was the one that I needed. it kicks in when the car turns off... kinda makes me wonder

don't forget to bleed the air out of the cooling system. there is a bleed screw on the thermostat housing. run the engine with the bleed screw open slightly to let the air out of the system. when the coolent bomes out in a steady stream, close the bleed screw. good luck

Your fan is not the issue. Mine hasnt come on at all this winter and im sure since you are up north its not a problem for you. It sounds like you may be needing a water pump because its not flowing like it should. If you flushed all that gunk out then there is a chance that you have some gunk on the wheel. I know you are going to hate it but thats your next step. Also try it with the thermostat out. How good is your radiator?
