Scott, if you don't mind, could you go into details on the architectural differences/improvements from the H to the K? I'm curious to hear more info on it, and all I can seem to find online is "it's a DOHC i-vtec with blah blah stroke and bore and blah blah compression," no detailed information. Then again, my search skills are a little rusty.

That's awesome man. The fact that this guy put it in an EF makes it even better. That thing must SCREAM! Plus, less than 2k for the build!Originally posted by 1991f22a1 View Postim not a genious when it comes to the h or k series....or any engine for that fact...but i did read a very interesting article and would i like to get some opinions on it from you gentlemen. http://www.importtuner.com/tech/impp...dge/index.html

"The result: 248.6 whp and 181.2 lb-ft of torque, as measured and tuned by the Latrobe, Pa. based HybriDynamics crew."
absolutely amazing IMO. i would love too build this engine and put it in my cb just for the experience and also the performance aspect.
"Chris has had his EF out to the strip a few times since completing its build. It's gone low 12's with a full interior and street tires, and Chris expects to be deep into the 11's after a head port, tuning, and possible over-bore."

hybrids will always be cheaper in priceOriginally posted by 1991f22a1 View Postdidnt know we werent talking about hybrids....techinically its a honda engine! just not manufactured by honda. but still a cheap alternitive to making usuable numbers without dropping 5k+ on a kswap.
j series are coming into play now
so expect in a few years the same article
instead of spending money on a j
make a k hybrid for half the price
battle has been going on for years, and will not end

If we all had Bisi brains and resources for precision and accuracy. We would all build high powered reliable honda engines. Im loving where honda is going with there new designs. Every honda fans are going to do something different to it either for a dd or an all out track star.
This is some old technology but wonderful in many ways as it puts out enough power and does really good mpg. Great read for honda engine fanatics. Enjoy.http://asia.vtec.net/article/d15b/Hybridnation

The H and the K are both good motors, as far as the ease of extracting the horsepower the K wins that argument hands down. I like the Einstein analogy, that was a great way to prove the point!
They both however do come with some issues, the H has the famous sleeve problems and of course the less than fun gear ratios. The K has oil cavatation problems above 7000 RPM and the transmissions have problems with "pop out" at full thottle. All of these problems can be fixed with aftermarket solutions and of course the K series is the king of the after market support right now. So it is easy to say that the K is the winner in that argument.
My favorite factory motor is actually a tie between the B16B and the K24A2. I dont think that there is a better motor from factory that is ready for as much abuse as the B16B is. 185hp, great rod ratio, can easily be swapped into any civic or integra, and is ready for a full day of abuse from factory. I vaguely remember a race team that just bought factory B16B's to use in the 25 hours of Thunderhill a number of years ago. And the K24A2 is a big torquey motor that has the benefits of the K20 but with the grunt of a 2.4L. I remember a Honda Tuning issue that did an "unleashing the HP" type of write up on the TSX and with relative ease they got 186WTQ and something like 220WHP with just a header, intake, tuning, and VTC adjustment.
That's just my two cents.

you dont need bisi's brain, i think there's some pretty damn smart people out there, that most of their ideas and thoughts get smashed by the lack of moneyOriginally posted by ZeRoCooLCB7R View PostIf we all had Bisi brains and resources for precision and accuracy. bull*&^^, nowadays if you can build a K you can make some money, is just a motor, the way, you check oil clearences are the same, they way you gap the rings are also the same, the way the pistons go in are still the same, everything else is assemblyOriginally posted by carps_accord View PostH seems less complicated than the k series....imo h series is the shit...new technology can be very dumb
