    e brake adjustment.

ok when i pull the e brakes all the way up. the rear wheels don't lock up. now how to i adjust it. do i adjust it by the level. or do i adjust it to the back of the drums where the cable goes in the drums?????????
and yes when i brake with the brake pedal the rear wheels lock. so it is a parking brake cable adjustment.

you need to take the center console apart. you will see the ebrake cable underthere with this little peice you need to turn with a screwdriver to tighten it. Make it nice and tight or to your liking and you will be good.

Also It might be broken and you might have to replace the whole cable. goodluck!

I haven't reeeaallly tried to lock my ebrake on this car, but I don't think it would if I tried, but I think it's because my drum pads are wearing thin.

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

you don't have to remove the console but it would be easier to access the nut that you need to turn to adjust the grab of the brake. just remove the rear center ashtray by opening it and then pulling it up and out. the nut should be a few inches inside facing the hole where the ashtray used to be. a small extension might be necessay to reach it. i believe it's a 12mm but i might be wrong. apply the parking brake until you hear one click before adjusting. adjust to where the wheels hold the car between 4 to 8 clicks. make sure that you don't overtighten to where the brakes drag the rear wheels. if at 8 clicks the brakes still can't hold the car, then your shoes are indeed worn. even if they are fully worn out, they will still have friction to stop the wheels when the regular brakes are applied. it just won't be as efficient and effective as having newer shoes, obviously.

Hey man dont adjust the ebrake without checking the shoes first. I know someone who actually snapped his ebrake cable by messin with it too much. If you need new shoes replace those first then try messin with the cable.

I have basically new shoes in the rear of our 90 EX (rear drums) and I adjusted it to 4-8 clicks. Also installed brand new OEM parking brake cables. Now my question is, I was slowing down, totally off accelerator and just rolling to a stop, I popped up the e-brake when I was rolling down around 15 mph or so and it didn't really work as well I thought, this normal? I was just testing it, to see how well it works. I even readjusted the e-brake again, figuring it might have developed some slack breaking the new cables in and I still wasn't completely satisfied with how it performs. I'm just thinking, man if my hydraulic brakes ever go out, the parking brake isn't really going to do me justice.

Anyways, how does this system work for you guys? And do you have drums or disc in rear?

You are all doing this WRONG!!! If you're car has drum brakes, you adjuust the e-brake at the wheel. Take off the drum and you will see a bar in between the shoes with a dial on it. Turn the dial a few turns and try to put the drum back on. If the drum goes on VERY easily, then adjust it again. Repeat these step until it is kinda hard to go on. Properly adjusted, you should feel a little resistance when you spin the wheel by hand. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!!!

I was going to say that but I figured it would be too hard for them to find the dial through the hole.(especially if they didn't know what they were looking for.

I'll have to try this. This is the first time I've heard of this, but I know what part you are referring too. I figured this part automatically adjusted itself as you used the drums. When I change my oil, I'm going to try this and see if it makes a difference. If so, then this was the missing link on why I wasn't satisfied with how it works. Thanks.

hey guys these are two different things.
ok first of all to adjust the e brake u have to go to that bolt on the console.

pull the back of the car up. the pull the e brake up till u hear one click. then while someone is rotation the back tire start to tighten that bolt up. till u feel the rear wheels getting a little bit stuck.
THAT IS HOW U FIX THE E BRAKE.

now in case that u back brakes don't brake when u push the brake pedal then u go and do what fizz and the other guy said.

how did i come to this conclusion.
well a mechanic friend of mine told me to do so. well he actually told me to go directly to where fizz said but after i expleained him my situation he told me to do the following...

since it snowed here in philly. i got the car and drove. while looking at the back wheels from the drivers window,, i brake and saw that the back wheels locked up. which means that i don't have to mess with the star looking thing in the drums... (sorry fizz lol)

now the only option left is to adjust the e brake cable. which i should be doing with the next few days.

and u can really stop with the e brake on. it don't have that kind of power to stop a whole moving car weather is doing 20mph or 10mph. i mean it will stop it but not as fast as u guys want it to.
yo hondafan if u really worried about ur brakes failing then u should downshift man. that is the only way u gona stop the car. that helps a lot while u are in high speeds. then when u get to 20mph pull the e brake as far as u can and ((step outside and try to hold the car <<<<< lol
