Hey
To start with, my i have a '91 EX with no mods cept the bottom of the air filter holder dremel'd out (stealth intake mod
) I noticed today for the first time while driving, that my car would idle VERY low, low to point of it almost dieing before recovering. When i got home, i let the car idle and opened the hood. It was fine. I then tapped the accelerator and the car rev'd up, then idled VERY low briefly before going back up to normal idle (500-700 when warm). With the car still running i GENTLY applied pressure to the throttle cable by the throttle body, barely enough to raise the engine's speed, and it did the same, idle-very-low-before-returning-to-normal deal.
This confuses me because the car idles fine unless i just previously let up on the accelerator (such as putting in the clutch when coming to a stop). It happens only breifly, for a second, before recovering. I've done a search and i dont think it has anythign to do with the idle screw. The air fliter has been changed within 6,000 miles. The spark plugs, fuel filter, cap/rotor, have not been changed since i bought the car about 6,000 miles ago, and i have no clue when the previous owner last changed them.
Any advice?
